Reducing our impact on the environment.
Since mid 2004 we have introduced and will continue to introduce measures intended to minimise Postroom-online Ltd's impact on the environment.  These changes were made on a moral basis not economic, we would recommend any customer reading this try to implement some of the below.  These measures have been surprisingly low cost in both time and money, and have actually lowered our operating costs.  Many of these measures are easy to introduce at home as well.

Electric
Electric light bulbs have been replaced with long life bulbs.  They cost about 45p more, but last 10 x as long.
Electric kill switch, cost £135 fitted.  Located by the main entrance, the last person out in the evening presses the kill switch this turns of all plug powered electricals that would otherwise be on standby, includes Printer, Copier and Telephones systems.  We expect this will pay for itself within 6 months.  The first person in the door in the morning switches it on, all machines are powered up within a couple of minutes.

Ink cartridges
All ink cartridges used by ourselves are refilled once empty at our local Cartridge World.
All internal printing is done on "fast draft" this reduces ink used by a third.

Paper and packaging waste
All paper printed on by us, is recycled.
All internal paperwork and invoices are printed on 70gsm paper down from 100gsm.
Paper waste shredded by us has always been done to security level 5 (extremely small cuts MOD standard).  This waste is now turned back to soil in an employees waste composter.
Where appropriate, we use incoming delivery box's to ship goods out.  We use a PacMaster cardboard shredder to turn old damaged box's into new packaging material, this greatly reduces our use of plastic bubble wrap.

THE FUTURE
Product labelling.  We are currently working with our suppliers to supply "power used per hour" information for every electrical product we sell.  This should be online mid-late 2007
Under serious consideration is a solar panel for our new office when we move in early 2007.
